Where we treat

We focus on three carefully studied areas of the face where wrinkles often form – and where the botox is FDA-approved and proven to work:

Lines that show when you raise your brow.

Between the Eyebrows

Frown lines, known also as “elevens”.

Crow’s Feet

Eye lines that show while smiling or squinting.

Try this at home

In front of a mirror, raise you eyebrows. Now furrow them. Now make an exaggerated smile. Are you seeing more dramatically? Treating these lines now will effectively preview their advance!

Introduction to Botox® Treatments

As we begin to age, the skin undergoes many changes that end up producing lines and wrinkles. Muscle movement under the skin is one of the biggest reasons we develop prominent lines and wrinkles on our face and body.

The team at Worthy Waterloo uses a combination of established products and proven techniques to reduce the prominence of wrinkles and lines. Dysport is used to prevent current static lines from getting deeper, as well as the formation of new lines.

What Is Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport™?

Botox® and Dysport™ belong to a class of medications known as neuromodulators which are used to treat various different muscles of the face and body.

Worthy Skin & Beauty Bar uses a high quality neuromodulator called Dysport™.

How Does Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport™ Work?

Botox® and Dysport™ treatments work by temporarily blocking signals to muscles which cause them to contract. This ends up producing fewer noticeable lines and wrinkles in the injected areas without changing the structure of your face. The goal with Botox® or Dysport™ treatments is to prevent wrinkles and potentially soften existing fine lines, leaving you with youthful and glowing skin.

Botox® and Dysport™ treatments are both safe and effective FDA approved for preventing wrinkles.

Neuromodulators can only be administered by health care professionals. Worthy Waterloo is proud to have an experienced nurse injector that has been working with Dysport™ for many years.

What Areas Can Botox® and Dysport™ Be Used?

Both Dysport™ and Botox® have been used to successfully soften and prevent wrinkles in many areas of the body, however some of the most common areas include:
  • Forehead: Botox® can work wonders on the forehead. It can stop horizontal creases from forming on the forehead due to constant raising of the eyebrows.. Most people require between 10 to 20 units of Botox® in this area.
  • Frown Lines: Frowning can cause deep wrinkles in the forehead and the area between the eyebrows. Botox® can relax those muscles to create dramatic improvements within a short time. Most people require 10 to 25 units of Botox® in this area.
  • Bunny Lines: These lines appear on your nose when squinting. Similar to chin dimples these lines can be reduced by injecting your nose (nasalis muscle) with Botox®. Most of our clients require 8 to 16 units of Botox® for this treatment.
  • Eyes (Crow’s Feet): Many clients are surprised to learn that smiling, squinting and even laughing can end up producing Crows Feet lines. The reason Botox® works is because it helps to relax the muscles around the eyes which produce a smoother facial profile with many wrinkles and lines disappearing. Generally between 8 to 14 units of Botox® is required.
  • Lip Flip: Botox® can be injected above the lips to prevent the upper lip from curling under when smiling. Clients who find their upper lip appears hidden while smiling and talking get the appearance of a fuller upper lip. A lip flip has no visible effect at rest.
  • Chin Dimples: Botox® can also assist with dimpling of the skin on your chin. These dimples are produced by the mentalis muscle contracting and can be mitigated by injecting Botox® to weaken the muscle. Generally clients need between 6 and 10 units of Botox®.
  • Neck Lines (Platysma Bands): Vertical neck bands are the result of your platysma muscles begin to descend which produce the prominent vertical bands in the neck. Botox® can often be effective at softening these bands however most clients require 30 to 60 units of Botox® for this treatment to be effective.

How Long After Injection Does It Take To See Results?

You must remember that results of Botox® or Dysport™ will not be immediately visible after your treatment. Full results can take up to 14 days post treatment, but most clients start to slowly see results after just a couple of days. After the neuromodulator has fully set in, you should notice a dramatic reduction in the appearance of expression lines due to lack of full muscle movement. Some clients will notice that their fine lines have softened, even at rest.

Botox® and Dysport™ Recovery & Results

Without a doubt the most incredible part of Botox® is how quickly the treatment is completed. You can literally walk into our Waterloo MedSpa on your lunch and be done in no time at all. Remember though, it will take a few days to see the results with maximum benefits showing 2 weeks after injection.

Even though this is popularly known as a lunch break procedure, you must take caution that you avoid any strenuous activity or exercise for at least 24 hours after your Botox® treatment. It is also important that you keep your head elevated 4 hours post treatment (i.e., no laying down), and do not touch or massage the area.

Pre and post care for any treatment at Worthy Waterloo, including Dysport™, is provided prior to your appointment. We will make sure you’re fully prepared and informed so you can get the absolute most out of every treatment. If you’re not sure if Dysport™ is right for you, book a complimentary consultation where we can answer any specific questions you may have.

  • Most clinics in the area charge between $10 and $15 per unit
  • The average cost for treating the three most popular areas (forehead, 11’s, and crows feet) with Botox® ranges from $300 to $500.
  • Another example is a Lip Flip, which costs $100

The number of Botox® units you require will be determined by Worthy Waterloo during your initial consultation.

Worthy Waterloo has a very experienced injector that has treated a very wide range of clients with Botox®. If you’re not sure if you’re ready to start the treatment but have questions and concerns, we are happy to do a complimentary consultation first.

How Long Do The Results From Botox® and Dysport™ Last?

This always comes down to the individual; however you can typically expect results to last approximately 3 to 4 months. Some clients see long lasting results and some shorter; however the majority fall in the 3 to 4 month range.

How Is Botox® and Dysport™ Administered?

Botox® and Dysport™ are both administered through a small injection under the skin. The majority of clients tolerate these without any issues or major complaints. The actual injection takes less than 5 to 10 minutes and the treatment results generally become visibly evident within a few days; however, to see the full benefit of the treatment it can take a full 2 weeks.

Who Is A Good Candidate For Botox® & Dysport™ Treatments?

There are many different reasons to get Botox® or Dysport™! You’re probably a great candidate for Botox® or Dysport™ treatments if you notice lines appear when you make different expressions with your face. For example, 11’s when you frown, horizontal lines when you raise your eyebrows, or crow’s feet lines around the eyes when you smile.

You might be a great candidate for a Botox® Lip Flip if you find your upper lip tends to curl under or hide when you smile. Dysport™ can also be administered to the masseter muscles as a treatment for TMJ and headaches. These are not the only areas and reasons to get Botox® or Dysport™; there’s many more!

It is a common misconception that Botox® or Dysport™ is only for clients with mature skin; it’s for everyone! Here at Worthy Waterloo, we treat patients of all ages (over 18) and genders with Dysport™.

What Is “Baby Botox®”?

“Baby Botox®” is a common term for young people who get this treatment. It is actually recommended to start getting Botox® or Dysport™ before static wrinkles begin to form, so we are all for the “Baby Botox®”! It is important to know that the injected solution or technique is not at all different for younger clients.

What Is The Difference Between Botox® and Dysport™?

Botox® and Dysport™ contain slightly modified versions of the same neuromodulator; however this slight difference ends up producing different characteristics. Neuromodulators work by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form. In our experience, Dysport™ tends to produce results a little quicker compared to Botox®. It also diffuses more which can be a good thing in areas such as the Crow’s feet or neck. These reasons are why we use Dysport™, and our clients love it!

Who Should Not Use Botox® and Dysport™?

We recommend you avoid Botox® or Dysport™ treatments if:

  • You are pregnant or nursing
  • You have any type of muscle disorder
  • You are allergic or sensitive to any botulinum toxin product
  • You have an infection at the proposed injection site
  • You are taking aminoglycoside antibiotics

Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport™ feels like pinch. The majority of our clients have no complaints after the injection and easily continue on with their day.

How Long Does Botox® Last?

The results of Botox® typically last between 3 and 4 months.

Where does the Botox® go after it is injected?

Botox® Cosmetic stays locally in the muscle where it was injected. But there is a very minimal risk of migration if the area is rubbed or excessively touched right after your treatment. This is the reason we advise our clients to avoid touching the area for a couple of days. However long term, the product is simply metabolized and broken down into a natural by-product in the weeks and months after your treatment.

Does Botox® make you look older after it wears off?

It is possible for your muscles to become trained not to make wrinkle-forming expressions but this is only after using Botox® continuously for years. The benefit is that even after the Botox® wears off, you can see lasting effects that prevent the facial lines responsible for producing an old age appearance.
